Today we are asked to think about our resources for ourselves and our families, and whether our wealth building strategies are working. We have an idea of the kind of lives we’d like to lead: lavish and luxurious, dropping mad cash, sitting pretty and sipping slowly with our hair down and our pinkies up. We want to be like those old school makeup commercials where women with flawless faces strut the streets dropping racks talmbout, “I know I’m worth it.”
And you ARE worth it boo, and nobody can take that away from you. It’s just...you don’t have it like that. Not yet. You HAVE worked hard and you DO deserve to have whatever you like, but also need to focus and remember that you aren’t working just for YOU. This is for you and your descendants, and their descendants and theirs and theirs and theirs. Like spirit reminded us the day before yesterday, this is about GENERATIONAL wealth, remember? Building legacy requires discipline, otherwise you will destroy what you are trying to build before the foundation is set squarely in the ground. Don’t let your wishful thinking about how beautiful and easy things could be -- and perhaps should be -- distract you from the way things ARE.
This is the part where you think spirit will tell you to work hard, save harder, deny yourself and soldier through; however long-lasting solutions are more nuanced than that. Of course you need to do the obvious -- set a budget and stick to it, structure your spending in a way that maximizes your money, and learn how to temper your short term desires in favor of long term gain -- but don't mindlessly robot your way through a checklist. Consciously persist with confidence that a by-product of love expressed as responsibility is gracious and cheerful discipline.
Spirit also wants you to know that many of the answers and coins you seek lie in creative solutions. Use ALL the resources available to you, including your imagination. Your mind is a fertile universe, made all the more potent when coupled with a purposeful heart. Network with your beloveds, and brainstorm solutions that wouldn’t have occurred to you alone. Celebrate your milestones with those who share your goals and long-term vision, to keep from leaking cash looking for a feeling of well being and appreciation. (Hint: You can’t find that at the store.)
Finally, its not just about implementing and maintaining structure, it's also about keeping the reason WHY structure is needed in the forefront of your mind, and knowing that you will be guided toward the next step because of the worthiness of your path. Going forward, success won’t lie in rigid execution of a solid plan OR in just going with the flow and rolling with whatever comes. Not dogma, not fantasy. Not either/or, remember? From now on, its both/and.
